Unexpectedly, the real Rod Stewart appeared from the crowd and began performing right along with the street musician. Rod Stewart is an icon and has played in venues all over the world. Most of his concerts fill huge arenas, but on this day, his performance was much more intimate.
When performing in Wembley Stadium, Stewart would have a backup band, a state of the art sound system, a carefully orchestrated stage show, and the energy of the crowd to bring the spectacle to life. But in this video, he shows that he doesn’t need all of those bells and whistles.
An artist, and star, like Rod Stewart, doesn’t have a prolific career because of manufactured stage shows. He has a pure talent and presence that can be seen even when he performs with a single microphone on a street corner in the middle of London. He shows everyone there that he still has what it takes to be a star.
I can’t imagine what it must have felt like to be a passer-by that day and treated to an impromptu concert by one of the greats of rock and roll.
